Rensselaer CATS conducts cutting-edge research in advanced automation and control systems to impact areas from biotech and renewable energy to aerospace and nanoscale manufacturing. CATS develops new (advanced manufacturing) technologies, fosters economic growth and engenders a richer educational experience by partnerships with public sector stakeholders, industrial clients, faculty, staff, and students.

CBIS is a uniquely focused on collaborative research at the frontiers of life sciences, physical science, informatics, and engineering. One of the most advanced biotechnology research facilities in the U.S., CBIS is committed to innovative interdisciplinary research.
The CCI operates heterogeneous supercomputing systems consisting of massively parallel IBM Blue Gene/Q supercomputer and Intel Xeon processor-based clusters. The computational power of the current hardware configuration is rated at over 1 PF peak. These systems are supported by over a petabyte of disk storage.
The broad research vision of the cMDIS is to integrate research capabilities and expertise across the broad spectrum of engineering, physical, chemical sciences at Rensselaer. We are always striving to build a cohesive community equipped to tackle research challenges that are at the forefront of the national agenda and that underpin technological advances that address global economic, security, and sustainability challenges.
The Center for Future Energy Systems (CFES) has established a strong track record in supporting the development of future energy systems through research, industry collaboration, and education.

The New York Pollution Prevention Institute (NYSP2I) gives Empire State businesses, communities, and nonprofits the practical tools and solutions they need to realize the benefits of sustainability for our economy, environment, and our society as a whole. 

The Scientific Computation Research Center (SCOREC) is focused on the development of reliable simulation technologies for engineers, scientists, medical professionals, and other practitioners. These advancements enable experts in their fields to employ, appraise, and evaluate the behavior of physical, chemical, and biological systems of interest.
