ChemE Car 2017

2017 Regional Competition

This past Sunday, March 26th, the RPI ChemE Car Team competed at the 2017 American Institute of Chemical Engineers Northeast Student Conference at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. We operated a battery car that was developed during the 2016-2017 academic year. Our team, after an unsuccessful first run due to a mechanical failure, operated the car successfully to achieve third place. This placement qualified us for the national competition at the AIChE Annual Meeting in Minneapolis this October.

I would like to thank you for the contributions you have made to the club. Without our sponsors and advisers, such success would not have been possible. As we work to further the development of our car for the national competition, a monthly or bimonthly update will be sent. As the club continues to grow, we will also be improving our pressure car with which we competed in 2016 as we prepare it for the 2018 conference. Unfortunately, competition rules did not allow teams two cars at this weekend's conference.

I am very happy to share our success with you, and would like to thank you for your support on behalf of the entire team. We would especially like to thank our 2016 and 2017 financial contributors for their donations to the club: SI Group, Cambridge Security Seals, the RPI School of Engineering, the RPI Chemical Engineering Department, and David Eckhardt.

We greatly appreciate the help you have given, and continue to give, to support our team's efforts.
