CBE 1914-2014

2014 marks an exciting time for the Howard P. Isermann Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering at Rensselaer, as we celebrate the 100th anniversary of the department! Chemical Engineering first appeared at Rensselaer as a Course of Instruction in the 1914 course catalog, and the first degree in Chemical Engineering was awarded in 1915. Over the coming year, we will be celebrating the important accomplishments of our alumni, faculty, and students, and looking toward the future. Here are a few of the CBE Centennial activities planned:

Reunion & Homecoming (October 9-12, 2014)

On Saturday, October 11, the Rensselaer community came together to celebrate the hundred-year history of the Howard P. Isermann Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering. CBE faculty spoke about the department's history, distinguished alumni, current accomplishments, and future directions. Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson led the celebration, which was followed by lab tours, a poster session, and a reception. You can see a video of the celebration here.

American Institute of Chemical Engineering Annual Meeting (Atlanta, GA, November 16-21, 2014)

Come meet faculty and students from the department at the annual meeting of chemical engineers from around the world.

Centennial Seminar Series (Fall 2014 and Spring 2015 semesters)

Leading chemical engineers will be presenting recent accomplishments and exciting new ways that chemical engineers are changing the world.
